Served as British Consul-General in Sao Paulo and director of UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) in Brazil from 2010 to 2014. His main role was to help British companies do business in Brazil and to support Brazilian companies to invest in the UK.
Served as the Head of the Export Control Organization, which issues licenses for controlling the export of strategic goods (2006-2009). Between 2002 and 2006 he was UKTI’s Director of Strategy. He led a review of UKTI’s strategy which resulted in a growing focus on emerging markets and accompanying switch of resources.
At the British Ministry of Trade and Industry, he served as Director of Sustainable Energy Policy, where he spearheaded the introduction and implementation of a new Government policy to promote renewable energy in the United Kingdom (the Renewable Energy Obligation) (2000-2002).
At Shell International, he served as Corporate Strategy Manager where he developed the Shell Business Planning Framework while contributing to various strategic projects on sustainability and the development of a business in financial services (Shell Capital).
